How To Get Over Fear of Failure
To succeed, you have to work hard. There’s no hidden formula for success. It takes time, dedication, and a lot of sweat. However, once you figure out how to get over fear of failure, working towards your goals will become easier and your life will be filled with more joy and peace than you can imagine. Failures are inevitable. The sooner you accept them, the quicker you can move on and achieve your goals. But what if you’re like most people and harbor negative thoughts about failure? What if those negative beliefs keep you from giving yourself the chance to fail rather than forcing yourself into a trap of expectations and limitations? This article will help you get over fear of failure by outlining some realistic steps to take toward success.
What is fear of failure?
Fear of failure is the sense of inadequacy that seizes us when we think about attempting something new or challenging. We are often afraid that if we try and fail, then we will somehow lose control of our emotions, become embarrassed or ourselves be unable to follow through on the success we know we can achieve. This fear of failure keeps us from achieving our dreams and goals because it prevents us from being truly present in the moment and following our hearts’ desires.
Define your goals and objectives
Before you can make a plan for overcoming fear of failure, you must first clearly define your goals and objectives. Are they related to money or success in any way? If not, you can start by writing them down. Then, list down what you want to do, who you want to do it with, and when you want to do it.
Set actionable plans
A plan is just a thought, right? Have you ever had a goal and then the next day wake up and forget about it? If you have, then you know how difficult it is to actually follow through on your plans. That’s where actionable plans come into play. Create actionable plans that you know will help you achieve your goal. For example, if you want to lose weight, create a plan that will help you lose 1 to 2 pounds everyday for the next 30 days. If you want to increase your income by $1000 a month for the next 6 months, create a plan that will help you achieve that and more.
Learn the skills you need to succeed
Once you have set actionable plans, conceived of realistic goals, and learned the skills you need to succeed, it’s time to put your energy into actualizing your plans. We all have a tendency to daydream and visualize during our free time and so does that mean we are more likely to follow through on our plans and achieve our goals? Not necessarily. It just means that you are more likely to be present in the moment and realistically assess the situation and available resources to see what you have to work with.
Celebrate small wins
We often forget that we should celebrate the small wins. They will help you stay focused and keep your motivation high. For example, your first step toward success. Your first chocolate today. Your first goal achieved. Your first day without stress. Your first day without crying. Your first day of rest. Your first day of celebration. When you are truly content, you will be more likely to succeed. Celebrate these moments and try to remember to keep your focus so you won’t miss out on those small things that will ultimately help you get over fear of failure.
